PETER KRISS, Ph.D.
Co-Founder & Managing Partner / Chief Investment Officer

Behavioral Economics

Continuing research in behavioral economics — which combines the methodology of economics with the insights of psychology — informs our service delivery strategy, particularly in assessment of risk preferences, portfolio design, and how best to handle liquidity events such as IPOs. This is Peter’s core expertise. He serves as Chief Investment Officer.

Climate Risk Research

Together with colleagues at Macroclimate, Minnesota’s Institute on the Environment and the climate data division of Institutional Shareholder Services (ISS-Ethix), Peter is co-author of A Geofinancial Engineering Initiative: Using Real Time Environmental Data from Satellites to Move Financial Markets and Improve Climate Outcomes (Journal of Environmental Investing, September 2017).

Peter served as Director of Research for Vision Prize, a polling platform for capturing scientific meta-knowledge on climate risks and solutions, from 2010 through 2015. The research program — which informs our investment strategy and analytic tools — was conducted in collaboration with the UK’s Institute of Physics (IOP Publishing), and was affiliated with researchers at Carnegie Mellon University.

Peter is a member of the Dimensional Sustainability Council. The Dimensional Sustainability Funds Council is a group of consultants and wealth managers whose input is solicited by Dimensional when it comes to decisions regarding how to appropriately incorporate sustainability factors into their fund strategies.

Peter completed his Ph.D. in Behavioral Decision Research at Carnegie Mellon University. He also has an M.S. in Behavioral Decision Research from Carnegie Mellon, a B.A. in mathematics with minors in philosophy and psychology from Swarthmore College, and holds an NASD Series 65 (Investment Advisor) certification.
